NBSC JOINS HIGHER EDUCATION SUMMIT 2026 TO ADVANCE SUSTAINABLE FUTURES
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) is among the higher education institutions participating in the Higher Education Summit (HES) 2026, held from March 10 to 12 at the SMX Convention Center Clark in Pampanga. Organized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), the summit gathers leaders from state universities and colleges (SUCs), local universities and colleges (LUCs), and private higher education institutions (HEIs) across the country.
Representing NBSC at the national gathering are Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, CESE, SUC President I, and College and Board Secretary Caroline Laarni R. Sereñas. The summit carries the theme “Achieving Sustainable Futures: Transformative Higher Education for Human Capital, Innovation, and Global Responsibility.” It aims to strengthen the Philippine higher education system in addressing both local and global challenges.
During the opening program on March 10, Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, Chairperson of CHED, underscored the importance of collaboration in creating a sustainable and inclusive academic system. A key focus of the summit is aligning higher education initiatives with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which provide a universal framework for addressing pressing global issues such as poverty, inequality, and environmental sustainability.
The summit also explores ways for higher education institutions to strengthen SDG-aligned research, enhance data-driven policies, and promote innovation that responds to emerging global and societal needs.
For NBSC, participation in the summit provides an important opportunity to engage with national education leaders and explore emerging trends in higher education. The engagement allows the institution to deepen its understanding of global issues, refine its academic strategies, and build meaningful collaborations that will benefit its students, stakeholders, and the broader community.
